Court acquits actor Sooraj Pancholi in Bollywood actress Jiah Khan’s suicide case. Sooraj Pancholi was acquitted by a special CBI court in Mumbai. The verdict comes 10 years after Jia’s death. On June 3, 2013, Jiah Khan was found hanging dead in his flat in Mumbai. A six-page note written by Jia Khan was also recovered from the flat three days later. The letter contained Suraj’s physical and mental torture as a lover. Based on this, the police arrested Gia’s boyfriend Suraj Pancholi on the charge of abetment of suicide and later released him on bail.
Mumbai Police’s investigation found that Jia had committed suicide. But Jia’s mother Rabia Khan approached the court demanding that her daughter did not take her own life and that her boyfriend Sooraj had killed her and that the CBI investigate. With this, the CBI took over the case. The CBI also found that Jia Khan’s death was suicide.
