The news of the death of poet and lyricist Anil Panachooran came as a shock to the Malayalees. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condoled his death. His untimely demise is a great loss to the cultural and cinematic field. The Chief Minister said in a Facebook post that he shares the grief of family and friends. The CM observes that Anil’s songs will stay in the minds of Malayalees forever.

He died at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. Hospital officials said Covid was the villain. He was rushed to Mavelikkara and Karunagapally hospitals on Sunday morning but later shifted to KIMS hospital in Thiruvananthapuram in critical condition. There are unconfirmed reports that he died of a heart attack.
