Last week, Bhagya Lakshmi and her gang attacked Vijay P Nair, a YouTuber, for allegedly abusing women on social media and confiscated his phone and laptop. Bhagyalakshmi was accompanied by activists Sreelakshmi Arakkal and Diya Sana. After the incident, the audience came out in support and condemnation of the act. The news was widely celebrated by the media.
However, the police had registered a case against them following a complaint lodged by Vijay P Nair. The court will consider the bail application filed following the case registered by the Thambanur police. The sessions court had rejected their anticipatory bail application. Later, Bhagyalakshmi approached the High Court. Bhagyalakshmi has filed an anticipatory bail application in the high court. The High Court will consider the bail applications tomorrow.
The charges against them include burglary and trespassing, punishable by up to five years in prison.
