Films directed by Anjali Menon have a reputation for inspiring viewers and celebrating life. Her most recent film, Wonder Women, boasts a strong star cast and aims to accomplish all of those things and more.

The film, which also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Nithya Menen, Nadiya Moidu, Archana Padmini, Amrutha Subhash, Padmapriya, and Sayanora, centers on a group of women who band together to support one another as they “navigate familiar experiences, fears, and hopes,” according to the producers, who earlier this month unveiled the trailer.

The story centers on six pregnant women from various backgrounds who enroll in a pre-natal class taught by Nadiya Moidu’s characters: Saya, Mini, Nora, Veni, Gracy, and Jaya. Over the course of a week, the women learn more about who they are, how to solve their problems, and how to support one another on their “quirky” path to empowerment, motherhood, and hope.

In a press statement, Anjali Menon said that she discovered that “sisterhoods can empower us individually and collectively”. “With Wonder Women, I wanted to portray this warm bond through multiple characters from varied backgrounds and their fun and feisty way of dealing with life,” she said.

The film marks the fourth directorial of the Anjali after Manjadikuru, Bangalore Days, and Koode. Little Films Productions and RSVP Flying Unicorn Entertainment also co-produced Wonder Women, which will start streaming on Sony LIV on November 18. Govind Vasantha composed the music for the film, which is shot by cinematographer Manesh Madhavan.

The film, which was written by Anjali as well, is primarily in English but also has a small amount of Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The director also stated that the characters are everyday women and that she wants audiences across the nation can relate to them.
