Given the current box office situation, Vijay Deverakonda, Ramya Krishnan, and Ananya Panday’s Liger opened to significantly good numbers. The film made Rs. 1.25 crore from paid screenings on Thursday and roughly Rs. 4.25 crore on Friday, which is fairly excellent for a Telugu dubbed picture. The film’s fair value opening is around Rs. 5 crores because the Hindi version of the film was not widely promoted in the Telugu-speaking area. On Saturday, the picture suffered a decrease and is expected to have collected roughly Rs. 4.15 crore. It is hardly surprising that mass-market films have a decrease on Saturday. However, the opening wasn’t that high, and there was definitely a possibility of Saturday ending up more than Friday.

The two-day total, including paid previews, is roughly Rs. 9.65 crore nett. The weekend collections are likely to reach Rs. 12.5 crore, with a decrease on Sunday due to the major India vs. Pakistan cricket match, which would keep most prospective consumers glued to their television sets. Furthermore, word of mouth for the Hindi version has been mediocre, giving it little to no chance of maintaining on weekdays. The picture has an open second week at the box office, but that usually only benefits films that have received universal acclaim.

The figures in Telugu were acceptable on day one, but it has exhibited catastrophic decreases since then, putting the film in a precarious position. The film’s international rights have been valued at roughly Rs. 90 crores, and based on current trends, the picture appears to be struggling to recover even 40%.

The film’s opening, both in Hindi and Telugu, reveals that Vijay Deverakonda has a devoted fan base, and it’s only a matter of finding the appropriate project to keep his star power intact. Liger was his largest box office opener, and one hopes that his following projects will break his own records.
