Thrishanku Movie Review
Thrishanku is a film directed by Achyuth Vinayak, which tells the story of dual elopements involving two couples. The main character, Sethu, plans to elope with his long-time love, Megha. However, his plans are disrupted when his sister, Sumi, elopes with her boyfriend on the same day. Sethu is then compelled to join the search party to find his sister. The film explores the reasons behind both couples’ decision to elope and the revelations and self-realizations that occur during their journey. While Sethu and Sumi are Hindu, Megha and Sumi’s boyfriend, Alex, are Christian. The film touches upon the societal and familial pressures that arise when individuals from different religious communities decide to marry. The screenplay and dialogues of Thrishanku, co-credited to Achyuth Vinayak and Ajith Nair, contribute to the film’s low-key comedy and its commentary on Kerala’s socio-political realities. The film covers a wide range of themes and issues while maintaining a light-hearted tone, making it an engaging and enjoyable watch.
