Neymar Movie Review
“Neymar”, Sudhi Madisson’s directorial debut, celebrates the bond between two friends and their dog, with a focus on family audiences and dog lovers. However, the film may not be as emotionally moving as other famous films featuring canines. While the lead characters, Aakamsh (Mathew Thomas) and Shinto (Naslen K Gafoor), are fans of the Brazil football team and its star player Neymar, the film has little to do with football. The duo’s dream of a career in aviation is put on hold when Shinto suggests Aakamsh buy a dog to impress a girl. And so, an indie dog named Neymar enters their lives. Aakamsh and Shinto, Neymar end up turning their lives upside down. Eventually, Aakamsh’s father, Sahadevan (played by Shammi Thilakan), sends Neymar away to Pondicherry one night. The duo then embark on a secret journey to retrieve the dog, only to find themselves at the mercy of Neymar’s new owner, the powerful Gabriel (played impressively by Yog Japee), and facing even more problems. While the first half of the film is set in Kothamangalam and has a slower pace, the second half, which takes place in Pondicherry, picks up speed. The film showcases a burst of colors, exciting shots and frames, interesting characters, places, incidents, and even more dogs.
