TVS, India’s leading two-wheeler maker, is reportedly planning to launch a new electric scooter in the domestic market soon. According to the Hindustan Times Auto, TVS plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore to strengthen its electric vehicle portfolio.

At the 2018 Auto Expo, TVS unveiled the Creon Concept electric scooter for the first time. The company’s team of more than 500 engineers is busy finalizing the electric scooter before it hits the market, and it is reported that the company will launch the scooter in the market by March 2022. TVS Creon will be manufactured at its plant in Hosur.

The company describes the Creon as a premium electric scooter. The Creon will be positioned above the company’s current electric model, the TVS iCube. The lithium ion battery pack in the crayon will have a capacity of 12 kW. It is equipped with a fast-charging system. The company claims that the Creon can accelerate from zero to 60 km / h in 5.1 seconds. TVS claims that this electric scooter can travel up to 80 km on a single charge and can be recharged up to 80 percent in an hour using fast charging outlets.

The Creon electric scooter is expected to feature a smartphone charger, TFT screen, park assist, special riding modes with regenerative braking, geofencing, and anti-theft system. Therefore, it may be more expensive than iCube. TVS IQ Electric currently sells two-wheelers only in selected cities of Bengaluru, Delhi, Pune, Chennai, and Coimbatore. But TVS also plans to expand its electric vehicles to other parts. TVS Creon’s rivals will be giants, including Ether.
